Purpose of Role
To take the lead in preparing the pricing element of tenders, target costs and VE exercises on major / large tenders

Principal Accountabilities
With the Bid Manager, developing the tender strategy and managing the financial submission Contributing to risk assessment and ensuring all risks are included within the tender Assuring accuracy, competitiveness and compliance of tenders Leading or supporting VE exercises Contributing to the submission document and Contract Documentation Supporting the Bid Manager in bid negotiations Maintenance of reliable tendering databases Management of cost plan process, including preparation of cost plans, design to cost statements for bid teams and liaison with design teams. Where appropriate, managing and developing staff

Additional Role Information
This vacancy would cover various Carillion projects throughout the UK

Carillion Services are recruiting a construction estimator to work on projects due to an increase in work due to take place over the next 5 – 10 years.
The successful candidate will work in a well-established team, with an excellent reputation for delivering projects.
The key responsibilities are -
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Tendering process through from invitation to tender, to in the event of an order, handing over to the Project team for mobilisation.
  • Following an ITT (invitation to tender) the Estimator will analyse and interpret the project specifications.
  • Contact suppliers and subcontractors for cost estimates for Materials, Labour, Major Plant and Equipment.
  • Attend regular meetings with the clients to clarify tender requirement and provide progress updates.
  • Through the Estimating System, check that requirements in ITT are met prior to setting costs for the Tender Submission.
  • Complete the Cost Build up utilising a number of costing tool models for review and approval by all internal stakeholders.
  • Preparation of the final tender proposal in timely readiness for submission to the client.
  • Attend regular follow up meetings with project teams once projects go into mobilisation stage.
  • Attend regular meetings with Commercial, Supply Chain, Legal departments to ensure all elements of the project are meet with Carillion policy and Legal requirements.
Person specification:
Full Driving licence is preferred
  • Excellent organisation and coordination skills in order to manage 3 or 4 projects at different stages.
  • Consistent attention to detail to ensure a high quality of work.
  • Good time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills in order to manage the expectations of internal stakeholders and external clients
