Hays Belfast are working alongside Translink, a public corporation established to oversee the provision of Public Transport in NI. The position of the Project Safety & Environment Manager will be to provide assurance and guidance on standards, risk assessments and also undertake sufficient checks to ensure the highest standards are maintained. With an excellent strategic development plan in place, Translink are building an exciting team for large scale infrastructure projects programmed for the next 3 years.
Your new role
Your new role will be to develop a best practice Health & Safety and Environmental management system to support upcoming construction projects, while also being pro-active in the implementation, performance and continuous improvement of the system. The role will assist Project Managers and project teams with multiple construction contracts within the Property and Network Engineering sector (track, structures and signalling). You will ensure client obligations are met in accordance with CDM regulations, environmental legislation and the construction strategy for each project throughout their life cycle. A key objective will be to improve the performance of Health & Safety for all Translink projects by liaising with contractors, conducting site visits, reviewing risk assessments and conducting audits on all works.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in managing Health and Safety in the construction sector and essentially a HNC/HND level qualification or NEBOSH Diploma or Certificate in Construction Health and Safety. You will also have experience of construction methodologies and a strong understanding for risk assessments within construction works. A full Driving Licence and access to a vehicle is necessary to meet the requirements of the post and the successful candidate will also need to be flexible to work weekends and nights.
