My client are a leading national provider of maintenance, refurbishment and energy retrofit services. Strategically positioned to deliver a broad range of solutions for local authority and housing association partners, supporting the regeneration of disadvantaged communities and improving the standard of living for residents by renewing existing housing stock through planned and responsive maintenance programmes.

As Bid Writer you will provide support to the bid Function, collecting and maintaining information on Wates (and partners) projects and people, in particular in responding to pre-qualification/pre-tender requests to deliver opportunities into the business which align with the business plan.

Main responsibilities

PQQ/pre-tender compilation, completion and management

Collation and maintenance of database of generic answers to PQQ questions

Assist with collecting information (written/photo/video as necessary) from site/project managers to create and maintain database of project profiles, linking & integrating with Group CRMas necessary

Administrative support to bid function

Co-ordination with alliance and non-alliance partners (consultants, sub-contractors)

Assist with collecting information (written/photo/video as necessary) from site staff to create and maintain database of CVs

Local Variation

To support the Bid Managers on responding to tenders from time to time

Maintaining relationships with the site teams, to be aware, that CVs, Project Profiles and Case Studies need up-dating. This will involve site visits

To work closely with the DTP Team to ensure excellent presentation of PQQ submissions

Contribute to a database of standard information used by the proposals team

To manage the Governance around PQQs, including Salesforce

To maintain a high strike rate

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

Understanding of company structure and businesses

Understanding of building site processes and hierarchy


Skilled in using all Microsoft Office applications

Understanding of use of databases and internet/intranet-based file storage

Excellent written skills

Highly organised, good attention to detail

Aptitude for using camera, video and associated software


BSc / BA or suitable business experience
