About the role:
You will provide detailed technical and commercial support in the evaluation of potential development opportunities including a broad spectrum of affordable housing, housing for sale, student accommodation, extra care or supported housing, and any other property related developments.
This role ensures that development works are carried out in accordance with the contract documentation and requirements, specification, legislation, industry best practice and other corporate guidance. You will provide technical assistance to the Head of Asset Management in key operational functions including stock condition survey data for new properties, property defect surveys and other project work.
Successful candidates will hold, or be prepared to study for, an appropriate professional qualification commensurate with the job role, e.g. Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, Member of the Chartered Institute of Builders, Institute of Clerk of Works.
You will be able to display a good standard of education (minimum Level 2 Numeracy & Literacy, or equivalent) along with a good understanding of general construction processes and the built environment. A good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation (including CDM) is also a requirement of the role.
It is important that you have practical experience of solving construction related problems that arise on site, as well as identifying defects and ways of rectifying them. Experience of monitoring the performance of contractors and of inspecting construction work is also essential. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence.
Ideally, you will have experience of a similar role within a social housing environment and of giving directions to contractors. The ability to inspect and assess 'as-built` quality of work, suitability and accuracy against construction documents and take appropriate action to remedy variations / inconsistencies is also highly desirable.
