An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced IT Project Manager to work within Central Government on a contract basis. This position is based in Longbenton, initially for 6 months offering up to £540 per day ltd.

Main Duties:

The IT Delivery Manager has the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis.

The role is to ensure the project delivers the required IT products to agreed time, cost and quality criteria and tolerances, whilst staying within agreed scope and managing associated risks and issues.

The role is also to ensure the capabilities delivered by the project will enable the benefits defined in the Business Case to be achieved.

Planning the project and monitoring its overall progress and initiating corrective action as appropriate;

Meeting agreed reporting requirements;

Actively and effectively managing project plans, risks, issues, dependencies and constraints;

Effective work management and deployment of project resources including finance and staff;

Effective management of IT supplier(s) within the project(s), including supplier compete processes and commercial challenge of costs;

Quality assurance and ensuring the overall integrity of the project - aligning with corporate, technical and specialist standards;

Preparation for, and co-ordination of, internal and external project reviews, such as OGC Gateway reviews and health-checks.

Engaging effectively with programme and project stakeholders including suppliers and other third parties;

Initiating and leading IT project workshops and events;

Supporting coaching and mentoring project team members and communicating with them effectively;

Supporting the Programme Manager in their project deliver responsibilities and deputising for them when required;

Essential Experience:

Recognised Professional PPM or Change Management qualification i.e.

PRINCE2 Practitioner

Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Practitioner

APM Practitioner Qualification (APMPQ)

Professional PPM Accreditation

Full Member of APM (MAPM)

APM Registered Project Professional (RPP) or a willingness and commitment to participate in the PPM Profession Accreditation Process. An understanding of the HMRC Change Framework and associated project lifecycles would be desirable.
