This role will suit an experienced Engineering Manager, Project Engineer, Senior Projects Engineer who is HND / Degree qualified or time served in their profession with extensive food sector experience.

A step change is required to eliminate foreign body risk from process equipment. A high profile three-month project will be started with immediate effect to identify and mitigate the risk. The Project Engineering Manager will start by creating a plan, then execute and report progress and finally will leave behind a catalogue of parts, their condition and a plan of managing the risk in the immediate, short, medium and long term, depending on level of risk and complexity of resolution.
* Review of a full line diagram that shows every piece of equipment in the line (as identified above) back to grain intake and forward to bag and bin packing.
* For every piece of equipment on that line
1 A simple description of what it does.
2 Materials used in construction including main body, seals, joints and detail such as whether it has lots of nuts/bolts or is welded
3 A condition analysis of each piece of equipment identified
4 A risk analysis covering at least these areas of risk: Food safety, People Safety and failure risk of each piece of equipment identified.
5 Corrective action plan based on the risk analysis.
6 A prioritisation of actions required and time based plan for delivery of actions.
7 An immediate and short term plan of how to manage the existing risk.
8 A medium to long term plan of how they plan to get all lines up to the required standard.
* Work with the Foreign Body Standards Campaign to help implement appropriate engineering standards
* Project plan to be available by 28th September.
* Creation and execution of a weekly project review meeting.
* Contribution to a mid-project presentation for external use.
* All high risk elements to be identified and mitigated in 6 weeks.
* Project report to be completed by the end of the year summarising work completed and outstanding action plan.
Evidence will be available to show that the potential for equipment to produce foreign bodies has been identified, measured, eliminated and controlled, or if appropriate a clear plan to control.
Some of the inspection work may need to be performed at the weekend when the plant is down.
The engineering resource for some of the work will need to be planned both for inspection and remedial action.
This role is commutable from Bedford, Dunstable, Milton Keynes, Luton, Hitchin, Hemel Hempstead, Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough, Rushden, Irchester, Sharnbrook, Burton Latimer, Wymington, Barton Seagrave, Buckingham, London.
