We are looking for an experienced individual who wants to develop their career with our growing acoustics team. You will make a contribution to some of the most exciting buildings, highways and transportation infrastructure projects in the UK. The senior members of our team are directly involved with education in the IOA and are particularly keen to ensure that all individuals develop to reach their full potential.

We have offices all-round the UK and for the right individual we can offer a position in Altrincham, Birmingham, Bristol, Croydon, Glasgow or Southampton.

As a company Mott MacDonald helps clients manage acoustics, noise and vibration in commercial and residential buildings, and in the transport; education and health; municipal; sports and leisure; and performing arts sectors. We also undertake noise and vibration impact assessment for transportation schemes such as road and rail.

These are some of the areas you could be involved in:
*Modelling, prediction, investigation and design services to minimise noise and vibration
*Assessment and appraisal of infrastructure schemes at all stages
*Facade design to control external noise intrusion
*Sound insulation design for privacy and noise control
*Architectural acoustic design to optimise acoustic comfort
*Electro-acoustic design to enhance intelligibility of life safety communication systems

Your experience is expected to include:

*Degree or similar in acoustics/vibration related field
*Proven technical ability in terms of problem solving and analytical thinking
*Ability to manage time, resources and projects effectively
*You will be an Associate or full member of the IOA
*Working in an engineering consultancy
*Transport and/or buildings acoustics
*Multi-disciplinary environment
*Commitment to CPD
*Willing and able to work within team environment and involve others where necessary
*Supervision and mentoring of junior staff
*Experience in developing relationships with clients
*Ability to write technical reports

Essential competencies / skills:
Acoustic modelling, noise surveys, report writing, use of MS Word and Excel
Site surveys and investigations
Presentation of complex acoustic issues to non-specialists at project and client meetings and workshops
Driving licence
Desirable academic, professional qualifications and experience:
Experience in the measurement and analysis of structural and ground-borne vibration
Previous use and/or current skills in the use of CadnaA/CATT acoustic modelling software

Desirable competencies / skills:
Use of GIS software
Public exhibition/inquiry/expert witness
Familiar with acoustic requirements of complex building projects
Understanding of project management requirements in a multi-disciplinary consultancy requirement

You will be required to assist with:

*Calculation, prediction and assessment of noise and vibration associated with transportation, power and energy, utilities, buildings
*Directing and undertaking noise and vibration measurement surveys
*Experience of the calculation, prediction, assessment and mitigation of noise and vibration from civil engineering construction, industrial sites and maintenance operations
*Calculation and assessment of buildings acoustics
*Preparation of noise input to environmental assessments
*Preparation of reports
*Supervision of junior staff
*Business development activities
*Project management
