Job Title: Engineering Buyer|
Reporting To: Purchasing Manager
The Engineering Buyer will support the Purchasing Manager in the procurement of manufactured parts for machine build and spares. This will include the identification of requirement from MRP, BOMs and drawings through to the receipt of conforming parts into stores.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with the relevant supplier organisations, building an understanding of their operation and working with them to ensure the delivery of supplies that match contracts and business needs at optimum cost.
Sourcing manufactured components from our external supply chain demonstrating sound negotiating skills and financial awareness in the purchasing/manufacturing process, whilst managing and working within the agreed budgets.
Ensuring incoming products meet Production schedule, agreed requirement in terms of cost, delivery and quality
Planning, controlling and monitoring the purchasing and/or management of materials for key areas.
Carry out duties at all times in compliance with all applicable laws and with due regard for the health and safety of others, including observance of Company Health & Safety requirements
Carry out such other tasks as may from time to time be requested, providing they are within the competence of the job holder
Skills and qualifications
Purchasing experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment
An excellent understanding of engineering drawings
Skilled in the use standard Microsoft packages
Skilled practitioner of procurement principles and theory
Strong track record in strategic sourcing
Member of Institute of Purchasing & Supply (or working towards)
