Morson require a number of Development Engineers test Air-to-Air Refuelling (AAR) equipment (wing/centreline externally mounted refuelling pods, internal fuselage mounted refuelling units) and Auxiliary Mission Equipment (air-to-air refuelling probes, weapons carriage and release systems) for a wide range of customers.
These systems require many leading edge technologies to meet demanding performance and safety requirements; including:
  • Precision hydraulic and fuel systems
  • Motor drive technologies
  • Composite braking and actuation
  • Avionic control systems incorporating complex electronic hardware
  • Software and system control
  • Monitoring and indication
  • Aerodynamic metallic and composite structures
The successful candidate will work as part of the engineering team carrying out testing at equipment and system levels capturing test evidence. This may involve testing across either of the main business areas of Air to Air Refuelling and Auxiliary Mission Equipment.
The Test Engineer will be expected to follow current departmental processes and will work as part of the engineering team at IPT level or at product level supporting test activities to demonstrate function and performance in environment.
The majority of the work will be carried out at external test facilities in the UK. Occasional overseas (infrequent) travel may be required.
Skills & Qualifications for Development Engineers will ideally include:
  • Relevant degree or equivalent
  • Exposure to requirements management tools (DOORS, CRADLE etc.)
  • Knowledge of environmental standards (RTCA DO160, MIL-STD-810 etc.)
  • Exposure to performing environmental and functional testing
  • Exposure to development engineering activities and understanding of product lifecycles.
The ideal candidate should have worked in the Aerospace test environment with particular exposure of working with RTCA DO160 & MIL-STD-810 standards testing products.
Candidates must have Environmental Test exposure within an Aerospace arena and be able to document Quality Test Plans and Quality Test Results.
Candidates should have created / run test procedures in at least 7 of the following test scenarios:

  • Temperature
  • Altitude
  • Temperature Variation
  • Humidity
  • Operational Shock & Crash safety
  • Vibration
  • Explosion proof
  • Water proof
  • Fluids susceptibility
  • Sand & Dust
  • Fungus Resistance
  • Salt & Fog
  • Icing
  • ESD & Fire / Flammability
