About the Business Line
We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented GIS Application Developer for immediate employment in the Raleigh, NC office. The successful candidate will utilize their design and development skills to deliver products with high quality, on-time and within budget. The developer will participate in the design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation and deployment of new customized GIS software, and will maintain and improve legacy GIS software. The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing efficient algorithms for spatial data processing, and will work closely with technical staff to develop solutions, so the ability to learn and understand basic water resources engineering concepts and apply those concepts in software development is needed - due to the varying nature of our project our technology staff grow their skills rapidly since each solution requires new approaches and technology components. This is an exciting opportunity to join an accomplished team and work on a variety of exciting and innovative projects for our various clients. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Support all current applications, as well as take lead in new application development initiatives to rewrite older applications using newer technologies
  • Translate detailed specifications into production-ready code, delivering leading edge geospatial solutions to our clients through desktop applications, web browsers, phones and tablets
  • Perform systems analysis and functional testing as needed
  • Produce technical documentation that accurately and thoroughly depicts the software design and code base that supports QA testing, deployment and production support activities

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems/Technology, GIS or a related field
  • 5 years of relevant programming experience
  • 5 years of GIS programming, preferably in the ESRI suite of products (ArcObjects)
  • Proficient in .NET with C# or NA, SQL, SQL Server 2008 or higher, Visual NA, Object Oriented Design
  • Experience with Source Control such as TFS
  • Must have an excellent understanding of object-oriented programming and relational database concepts
  • Ability to analyze and resolve technical issues and problems, identifying different design alternatives
  • Highly autonomous, self-starter with experience in the full SDLC process
  • Quick-learner, familiar with common design patterns, adept at studying other people's code
  • Team player with a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in mobile and/or web development (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, SQL Server, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Javascript API)
  • User interface design experience
