Job Summary
We are currently recruiting for Senior Bridge Engineers to join our centrally located Cardiff office, which has an established track record of successfully delivering major transport schemes.

Our modern office in the heart of Cardiff City Centre has good transport links and accommodates a multi-disciplinary transportation design centre. The team provides include feasibility studies, scheme designs, detailed designs, assessments, inspections, construction support and management services on a wide range of bridges and transport projects including highway and railway schemes. The team is involved in local, national and international work with a variety of clients both from the public and private sector including design & build partnerships with contractors.

Some of the projects our Bristol office is currently working on includes:
• Severn Bridge.
• Network Rail bridge maintenance inspections and assessments.
• Northern Hub & Electrification.
• South Gloucestershire Structures Framework.
• Inspection, testing, feasibility and design schemes of railway & highway footbridges.
• The independent design checking of major steel-concrete composite highway bridges.

As a Senior Bridge Engineer you will have the following daily responsibilities:
• Undertake and manage rail and road bridges and associated structural engineering schemes from inspection and assessment, feasibility through to detailed design.
• Take responsibility for the contribution of Graduate Engineers and Technicians as appropriate.
• Leading site inspection of structures and supervising site survey works.
• Production of technical reports, detailed design of bridges and other structures in the highway environment, making use of relevant structural software packages.
• Preparation of detailed design drawings.
• Liaison with clients and other parties in the project team.
• Production of scheme cost estimates.
• Monitoring project progress and finances with a focus on quality, timely delivery to budget and to client's satisfaction.
• Take an active role in work winning, and supporting business development activities, including development of client relationships.

Minimum Requirements
• Significant experience with bridge and related structural inspection assessment and design schemes.
• Knowledge of Euro codes.
• Working knowledge of AutoCad.
• Experience in the design of concrete, steel, timber and masonry structures.
• Proven design and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget.
• Experience in road, rail and water bridge projects.
• Experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• High level technical skills in current inspection, assessment and design and be able to lead teams of graduate and senior engineers in such projects.
• Previous exposure with clients of both national and local authorities, together with major contractors.
• Previous site based experience.
• Ability to manage staff and project Health and Safety responsibilities including compliance with CDM legislation.

Preferred Qualifications
• Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Bridge, Civil or Structural Engineering.
• MSc level or equivalent in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer with ICE and IstructE, or close to completion.
