Position: Injection Moulding Unit Manager
Location: Leighton Buzzard
Duration: Permanent
Salary: circa £50-55'000 per annum plus, (Negotiable for the right individual)
Hours of work: Days, Monday to Friday

Position Overview

Our client is a leading multi-million pound manufacturing organisation with multiple factories based across the UK. With an on-going commitment and investment within New Product Development and emerging markets, we are now seeking an experienced manager to join their management team at their state of the art factory based in Leighton Buzzard.

The role will focus on the management of their state of the art Plastic and Injection Moulding division, producing fixtures and fittings. Therefore previous experience of either plastic or injection moulding techniques is required to meet the brief.

Reporting to the National Production Manager this key role is responsible for coaching, leading and motivating a team to deliver production volume against critical quality, cost and environmental standards. Naturally working safely is your primary concern together with a desire to always anticipate and exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities will include:

* Reviewing all existing equipment and capital requirements for the plastics department to ensure it is capable of supporting anticipated product growth
* Ensuring the production layout and process delivers the optimal production efficiency

* Leading and sharing best practice plastics manufacturing across all sites
* Facilitating planned preventative maintenance regimes to ensure the manufacturing process is robust and engineer out manufacturing and/or quality problems
* Managing the procurement and maintenance of machine tools and associated dies with outsourced suppliers
* Leading product development for our niche tiling product and developing capital plans to support this

Skills, Qualifications and Attributes

* Previous leadership experience within a plastic or plastics injection moulding environment
* Proven ability to coach, lead and motivate an experienced production team towards ever higher standards
* Proven problem solving experience using problem solving tools and team empowerment
* NEBOSH or equivalent - Desired

Our client aims to operate to world-class manufacturing standards and the successful candidate will be required to commit to a focused program of training and development which will include as a minimum:

* ILM/NEBS Program (Management and Leadership)
* Health & Safety Management Training - NEBOSH
* Business Improvement Techniques - Lean Manufacturing / Six sigma
