Apprenticeship Engineering Based in Blackburn the successful applicant will have the opportunity to undertake valuable work experience whilst gaining on the job qualifications. Vacancy Full Description: First year in the training Centre Vacancy - The vacancy is an opportunity for someone who is interested in pursuing a career in Engineering. If successful, the apprenticeship could consist of up to 4 years learning. The first year will be based full time (Mon-Fri) at the training providers base in the Engineering workshop where the apprentice will gain an insight into Engineering, and start to develop new skills relevant to the tasks they will be completing once they return to their respective employer. As well as this they will also begin their Further Education course (BTEC Diploma, City & Guilds) which will be 1 day a week classroom based learning. In Company Vacancy - The vacancy is an opportunity for someone who is interested in pursuing a career in Engineering. If successful, the apprentice will be based at their employer working the hours agreed in their contract. The apprentice will need to attend Training providers site to complete the relevant skill units that have been agreed by Training provider and the employer, this will consist of the apprentice completing 3 blocks of skill specific Engineering training lasting 4 weeks each. As well as this they will also begin their Further Education course (BTEC Diploma, City & Guilds) which will be 1 day a week classroom based learning. Detail on various types of Engineering vacancies Electrical & Electronic Apprenticeship This Apprenticeship includes basic engineering drawing, measuring and marking out and handling of engineering information, maintaining electrical/mechanical equipment & systems, assembling & testing electronic circuits and wiring & testing of equipment and electrical circuits. Mechanical Manufacturing In Engineering Apprenticeship Basic engineering drawing, measuring and marking out and handling of engineering information, fitting using hand skills, machining engineering materials, using CAD (Computer Aided Design) / CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) equipment on up to date industry standard CNC machinery. Engineering Technical Support/Design Apprenticeship Basic engineering drawing, measuring and marking out, knowledge of engineering materials and handling of engineering information, fitting using hand skills, machining using engineering materials and producing engineering drawings using CAD (Computer Aided Design). Maintenance- Electrical/ Mechanical This role combines both electrical and mechanical maintenance, responsibility of a mechanical maintenance apprentice you will be required to carry our planned and emergency fault diagnosis. You will learn to maintain and install mechanical equipment and restore components to a usable condition. Electrical Maintenance entails maintenance, planned and emergency fault diagnosis, you will also learn to test and repair electrical equipment and circuits alongside carrying out inspections, fixing, repairing and maintaining machinery in an electrical aspect. CNC Machinist CNC Machinists are responsible for manufacturing a range of parts using a variety of methods and machines, including turning, milling, programming, setting and operating. This involves interpreting engineering drawings, working to a fine degree of accuracy using manual and electronic measuring instruments . Welding & Fabrication Your job role will consist of different tasks such as; •Welding components •Welding Castings •Mig & Tig The successful candidate will train and become competent welding, components and castings industry, learning to weld both mig & tig to a very high standard. You will also be trained to learn basic engineering drawing, measuring and marking out, knowledge of engineering materials and handling of engineering information. Additional skills covered may include: - fitting using hand skills, producing sheet metal components and assemblies and a range of welding techniques and principles. Each of these is decided by the level of qualification being taken and the job role you are undertaking Tool Making and Machinist As a tool making and machining apprentice you will be working from complex engineering drawings. Situated in a fully equipped tool making room you will be required to produce precision tools and holding devices alongside re-furbishing worn parts. These tools and holding devices will be utilized to cut, shape and form metals and other materials in the manufacture of our products. This role involves all types of machining, bench fitting and electrical connection of hot runners. Training to be provided · Technical Certificate, Level 3 e.g. City and Guilds 2800 or BTEC Diploma · Functional Skills, Level 2 in Maths, English, ICT, working with others and improving your own learning. Functional Skills requirements is subject to the successful applicants GCSE results. Grade A-C and within 5 years old means the apprentice will be relaxed from completing functional skills. Certification evidence will need to be provided. · Employer Rights & Responsibilities (ERR) · Semta Apprenticeship in Engineering Framework (Once all elements are completed and learners portfolio has passed Internal Verification) · Abrasive Wheels (Only for learners that are based in centre for year 1) · IOSH Working Safely (Only for learners that are based in centre for year 1) · Level 3 Qualification in Engineering S kills Required · Good attention to detail · A technical mind · Analytical · Ability to use initiative to think through problems and find solutions · Ability to work as part of a team · Excellent communication skills · The ability to think outside the box, curious and innovative Personal Qualities Must possess an interest in engineering Motivated and committed individual Good time keeping Strong work ethic Qualifications Required Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C or above including English, Maths.
