My client, a leading tier one contractor is looking for a Senior Planner to work on a multi million pound civils project in Birmingham. PURPOSE OF THE JOB Assists the Planning Manager in meeting the requirements of the project, including:  Forward planning for: o Design programme development in conjunction with the design subcontractors o Construction works programme developing o Procurement programme integration with design & construction o Pre-construction dependencies such as methods statements, permits, Inspection and test plans, consents, permits and stakeholder requirements  Resource and cost loading to schedule level 4.  Look ahead programmes  Programme fragnets and Integrated programmes  Inclusion of time risk allowance and terminal floats where appropriate  Reporting in accordance with the weekly work plan and periodic programme submittals  Attendance at meetings.  Identify and demonstrate the impacts of change events.  Provide support in the issuance of relevant communications, early warnings and instructions  Satisfy requirements of NEC3 and the Works Information  Provide scenario planning support to the project team  Development of compensation events and early warnings  Provide, update and validate EVA data for use by the Employer and subcontractor ACCOUNTABILITIES / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Produce all daily, weekly and monthly reports as required under the contract and by the Planning Manager. Produce look ahead programmes and update inputs from the delivery team. Resource loading and cost allocation in Primavera P6 and other software as required. Produce reports and management information for the board and senior management as required by the Planning Manager. To deputize for Planning Manager in his absence and attend meetings on request at the project sites Undertake site visits on a periodic basis to inform the programme development and periodic updates Liaise with all project departments to inform the programme development, periodic updates, compensation events, early warnings, value engineering and strategy development. SPECIFIC SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES The post holder must comply with sections 7 and 8 of the Health and Safety at Work Act:  to take reasonable care for the safety of themselves and of any other person who may be affected by what they do or fail to do at work  to co-operate with their employers or any other persons in the performance of their statutory duties  not to misuse or interfere with anything provided in the interests of health, safety or welfare The post holder must also comply with the requirements of H&S Policy and cooperate with the company in its efforts to prevent accidents and ill health. In particular the post holder will:  read and comply with the location rules  behave in a responsible manner at all times  develop and demonstrate a personal concern for the health and safety of themselves and others  report all accidents, incidents and near misses to their line manager or health and safety manager as appropriate.  report damage to plant and equipment to their immediate supervisor  use only that plant and equipment for which they have received training and authorisation  use and look after the protective equipment provided and report to their supervisor when it becomes worn or defective  ensure that any personal injuries are recorded in the accident book  propose to their immediate supervisor ways of eliminating hazards and improving safety at their workplace  attend health surveillance when instructed  set a personal example of safe behaviour EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING  The role will require the post holder to have excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.  Educated to HND - HNC level or equivalent in a construction or related discipline. A low educational level combined with extensive experience in a similar role would meet this requirement  Membership of a relevant professional body at member or associate member level  Substantial experience of planning, cost /resource loading and change management utilising Primavera P6 software.  Working knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts.  Demonstrable construction and operational planning experience on large civil works  Extensive working experience with Tier 1 Contractor(s) on NEC3 projects.
