Our Transportation team based in Liverpool currently have a vacancy for a Principal Consultant with experience of Traffic Engineering Design, Traffic Management and Regulation, and Traffic Signal Modelling to support a growing workload. The ideal candidate will be chartered or working to achieve this status and will have proven experience in design, modelling, project management and staff management with evidence of delivering to quality, time and budget. The role would suit a proactive, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team. AECOM's North West Traffic team has an established track record of successfully delivering major schemes to clients across the region, nationally and internationally. The team provides concept and preliminary design, detailed design, and traffic modelling services on a wide range of projects and supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a highway interface. We are now looking to enhance and grow this team with individuals who have a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload. Our position on a number of significant regional and national Transportation Frameworks provides the team with excellent opportunities across the local government / public sector market ensuring an exciting future. Our portfolio of recent and current work covers a diverse mix of contracts including: - Manchester Metrolink Phase 3 Extensions - Local Area Traffic Management and Parking Plans for London 2012 Games - Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) Transport Professional Services Framework - Greater Manchester Civil & Structural Engineering Professional Services Framework - Merseytravel Professional Services Framework - Warrington Professional Services Framework - Cumbria Professional Services Framework - Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games - Velocity, Cycle City Ambition Grant for TfGM - Complex Traffic Management Designs for Hanger Lane and Kings Cross for TfL Major Public Transport Priority Schemes in the UK and Overseas Job responsibilities: The appropriate level of expertise is required in order that the following responsibilities can be carried out to the necessary standards: - Successfully delivering client bids and fee proposals. - Acting as a Project Manager including monitoring of financial performance. - Ensure technical content and quality of output produced. - Undertaking Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members and fulfilling Safety-in-Design requirements. - Line managing, mentoring and supervising staff in the performance of their duties. - Ensuring appropriate local resourcing levels for work to be delivered efficiently. - Actively recruiting to grow the team. Minimum Requirements - Proven ability of leading single and multi-disciplined projects as project manager/ task leader. - Experience of dealing directly with clients, local authorities and scheme stakeholders. - Demonstrable experience in traffic engineering design (including traffic management, cycling, walking, public - transport and parking design) at concept, feasibility and preliminary stages. - Experience in traffic signal modelling including LINSIG, TRANSYT and VISSIM/Paramics. - Demonstrable application of the Traffic Signs Regulations and Traffic Signs Manuals. - Understanding of Health and Safety requirements including CDM responsibilities. - Reasonable geographical flexibility to support project and business requirements. - Excellent technical and communication skills. Applicants should have a relevant degree and will be a Chartered Engineer or will be working towards an appropriate Chartered status with membership of a professional institution.
