Plessey Semiconductors are world experts in the development and manufacture of light emitting diodes and solid state lighting products for a range of applications in worldwide markets. An exciting opportunity exists to join the Equipment Engineering team as part of the Patterning team in our high tech manufacturing facility in Plymouth. Reporting to an Equipment Engineering Technical Specialist the role has 2 main functions:- 1. Taking responsibility for a number of leading edge technology manufacturing tools. The aim of which is to ensure their best possible performance by the implementation of continuous improvement methodologies. You will be performing careful analysis of data, specifying improvement plans, creating and developing maintenance and repair documentation as well as providing training and expert support for 24/7 manufacturing engineers. With training from our highly experienced team you will develop a high level of expertise in Plasma etch and systems from other critical manufacturing areas. As you gain experience you will undertake project ownership and take responsibility for the mentoring and development of other equipment engineering staff. You will need and understanding of engineering skills in multiple disciplines including mechanical, electrical and electronics. Most importantly you will have an analytical approach to problem solving and will have the ability to understand how complex systems function. 2. You will also work as part of a small team in designing, developing, specifying and where possible manufacturing the bespoke hardware required to test, develop and characterise our LEDs. This will involve the use of 3D CAD design and the manufacturing of assemblies from both a mechanical and electronic perspective. Training will be provided by our existing engineering team and by equipment manufacturers where required. You will need: · A degree in an Electrical or Electronic or Mechanical engineering or Mechatronics · An understanding of all 3 disciplines · A current UK work visa · A working knowledge of 3D CAD design · A can do attitude and a wish to be involved in the future success of Plessey. · An understanding of engineering manufacturing techniques · Some evidence of design and/or system performance improvement and/or system repair skills. You will work Monday to Friday, 8am - 4.30pm with an hour for lunch.
