Quantity Surveyor in Kent

My client are one of the UK's leading water and utilities companies that are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Kent.

Salary up to £50K

The successful applicant will be working as part of a vibrant team, preparing tender submissions, preparing supplier enquiries and taking quantities.

This role will offer you the opportunity to become a Chartered Quantity Surveyor as there is a successful APC training program in place.

Duties can include:

* Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work
* Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
* Performing risk, value management and cost control
* Advising on procurement strategy
* Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
* Preparing and analysing costing for tenders
* Allocating subcontractors works
* Providing advice on contractual claims
* Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports
* Valuing completed work and arranging payments
* Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use
* Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations


* Hold a relevant degree
* Experience in utilities and water is advantageous
* Experience working for a building contractor is ideal but not essential
* Must be able to think on their feet
* Plan and implement effective solutions
* Be able to work well both in a team and individually
* Possess good communication skills
* Be self-motivated, detail orientated and very organised, with an aptitude for working with numbers and absorbing and analysing technical information
* Have good IT skills (including proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Word)
* Have good numeracy and literacy skills evidenced by good grades at GCSE level (or similar) in Maths and English Language
