Technical Pre-Sales Consultant Job Role
Work as an integral part of the Pre-Sales team providing support for the sales function within the business, providing technical qualification, solution design, bid support and delivering customer solutions. The role is also responsible for providing technical consultancy for Channel Partners and end user network representatives with our 'go-to-market' products and services.
Accountabilities as our Technical Pre-Sales Consultant:
Be part of a Pre-Sales team supporting the Sales function within the business in order to build 'end-to-end' Managed WAN and LAN connectivity solutions (multi-product) for channel partners.
Provide a practical and clear 'interface' between Technical, Sales, Deliver and product management to ensure that the correct solution is sold / delivered to the end customer
Determine, articulate and document the technical scope of sales opportunities and ensure that the internal and external understanding reconciles and is well understood.
Attend external Pre-Sales meetings with the sales teams and customers and help identify technical, infrastructure and configuration needs based on the requirements
Provide internal Pre-Sales support for the Account Managers, Sales Academy and Sales Support teams
Be accountable for designing & implementing bespoke and sometimes complex technical designs & solutions including migration and testing
Create High Level Design and input into Low Level Design documentation packs
Work with Sales team, Bid Management and channel partners to provide responses for technical RFI/RFP questions
Maintain an in-depth level of technical and industry knowledge through ongoing training, seminars and certifications.
Assist with the development of new services and products for including within the Service Portfolio
Provide internal training to staff and new employees & Product and Service training to aid in the technical development of our Channel Partners
Our ideal Technical Pre-Sales Consultant:
Have previous experience providing Techncial Pre-Sales support or technical support within a Managed WAN / LAN Service provder utilising Cisco technology.
Experience of other vendor technologies including: Huawei, HPE, Fortinet, Checkpoint, Aruba, Aerohive and Meraki would be advantageous.
Have experience of creating network designs and bespoke customer solutions based on a set of requirements
Able to produce High Level designes and detailed statement of works to document specific details associated with implementation and overall in-life operation of the solutions that have been proposed
Have an ability to map technical solutions to customer needs/business objectives
Able to create and deliver technical presentations to end customers
Have good knowledge and understanding of networking protocols including MPLS, BGP, OSPF, VPLS, VPNs, and QoS
Good understanding of WAN technologies including: Leased Lines, Carrier Ethernet, EFM, xDSL.
Good understanding of LAN technologies including Edge, Access and Data Centre
Experience with cisco routing and switching technologies including: ASR9000 /ASR1000 switches, ME3600 Metro Ethernet switches, Cisco 6500, 3700, 2900 and 800 series routers. Cisco Nexus, Cisco 37xx, Cisco 45xx.
Experience with Security products such as Firewalls, Intrusion Detection etc. would be beneficial
Previous experience with WLAN, UCS, SIP, VOIP would be advantageous
Hold a Cisco design qualification such as: CCDA, CCDP or hold a valid Cisco Professional qualification such as: CCNP, CCIP
Any additional qualifications such as: CCNA-Wirless, CCNA-Security, FCNSA, CCSA, FCNSP, CCSP or CISSP would be beneficial
Any Project Management related qualifications such as: Prince 2, Six Sigma would be advantageous
Good understanding of the Telecoms Market and regulatory / legislative restraints around Telecoms
Good understanding of the ICT and how this impacts end user requirements in the LAN / WAN
Public Sector Network (PSN) experience would be advantageous
Business Know How:
Proven competence at design, configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco products - Routers and Switches
Experience of working with Telecoms provides such as BT, Colt, Virgin-Media, and Vodafone etc.
Experience of working with Managed Services Provider would be an advantage.
Previous experience of managing internal projects, creating statement of works (SOW)
Experience of CRM Systems including: Salesforce, Remedy, Service Now etc.
Previous experience of OSS systems including: Solarwinds, CACTI, Nagios etc.
Note: The successful candidate will be required to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Vetting Standard (BPSS)
