Knowledge & Qualifications:
Possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Excellent written communications relating to technical authoring and operational specifications
Prince2 or equivalent
Familiar with relational database concepts and SQL
Familiar with at least one programming language preferably C#.net
Experience / Personal Qualities:
1-3 years' experience in a similar role or a project/development manager who would like to like to specialise in software development.
Demonstrable experience of implementing projects and procedures within an agile software development environment or software house.
Proven communication skills and multiple stakeholder management experience.
.Net Framework, WPF, Linux, MySQL, SQL, Web Services developmental experience.
Proven ability to manage multiple key stakeholders.
Ability to deliver technical solutions under pressure and right first time.
Strong willed and thick skinned.
Ability to implement people/process/technology changes in line with board strategy.
Experience of medium to large scale development/teams.
Transition of desktop to cloud applications.
Understanding of APIs and web services.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Strategic operational direction of technology and product alignment
Prioritisation of development Items
Planning and delivery timelines/forecasting
Maintaining development queue and visibility
Operational management of development team in conjunction with Technical Director
Planning and Task monitoring
Process developments through core testing and regression analysis
Planning and documentation release
Release Management strategy and release process
Manage and motivate Development, Test and Release teams
Key Stakeholder management (Internal and External)
This role is responsible for ensuring that the company's strategic development processes are managed, implemented and continually reviewed, both technically and operationally. All requests for development resources are to be controlled by this role and consequently will work directly with the Technical Director to agree priorities and approve requests.
A significant aspect of the role will include working directly with the Technical Director in approving and road mapping technical solutions and ensuring that these are documented and communicated to the key stakeholders. The individual will control the entry gates into the technical team and therefore must ensure that each request is well scoped, justified and with clear business case scenarios.
Clear exit strategies should be defined controlling the releases into testing, managing the correction of issues raised during testing feedback and end to end product regression testing. This individual will also coordinate with the relevant teams to release the various software platforms to clients, focussing on stability and reliability.
The role will be responsible for ensuring that larger scale projects are well documented; controlled and planned to ensure successful delivery through to testing and operational teams.
The individual will form a key part of the development team and will take part in technical and operational scoping/review sessions and would ideally be in a position to provide guidance and ideas on implementation and best practice. The role will also involve planning, preparation and implementation of new technologies and strategies as technological advances become available.
The individual will report directly into the Technical Director and along with will have responsibility for the management of development resources and development timelines/planning. The role will interface with the multiple development strand teams to ensure that tasks are visible, planned and resource controlled. The role will also interface with the testing and release teams for managing resources and jobs that have a direct impact on the development teams and service teams to coordinate releases. The role will have communication channels into testing, documentation, client relationship, support and projects to ensure that there is clear visibility and entry/exit with the development team, as well as knowledge of the overall project delivery process.
