Preetha Sampath is recruiting for an Electronics Engineering Manager to work for a highly established instrumentation developer. The position will be based at the site in Liverpool on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for technology development, intellectual property and product lifecycle management, support to sustaining engineering and manufacturing transfers, alongside other business functions (including sales, marketing, service, production etc.). You will be working with the Director of Product Development and the Product Development Managers to set the business' strategic vision and direction for technology and product development, aligned to their global plans.
Further responsibilities include:
-Managing the electrical and electronics engineering team, establishing objectives and work plans, and delegation of assignments.
-Training and developing junior staff through coaching, mentoring and team leadership activities
-Timely development of quality and innovative products to meet customer needs as well as the company goals, objectives, cost targets and schedules
-Hands-on design and development from concept through to manufacturing including architecture and circuit design, calculations, component selection, tolerance analysis, specifications, risk analysis, In Circuit and Functional Circuit testing, manuals, sales literature, training materials and support to regulatory submissions
-Interpreting data and reports, recommending and initiating appropriate courses of action within the electrical and electronics field and across other disciplines
-Maintaining up to date knowledge of international standards, recommending and supporting changes to engineering practice or project life cycles to ensure compliance. Responsible for compliance of products to ISO, UL/CSA, CE, QSR, CE , IVDD and other applicable regulatory requirements (and in particular EMC and IEC61010)
-Supporting financial decision making on potential collaborations with outside institutions, service or consulting contracts, licensing, material acquisition and capital equipment expenditures.
As an Electronics Engineering Manager, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
-Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or a similar field is required.
-A track record of delivering electronics design and development of new products successfully launched in the market and management of current product evolutions in a global marketplace
-Technically proficient with expert knowledge of engineering principles (for prototyping and manufacturing) and concepts in electro-mechanical laboratory automation or similar products
-Experienced in PCBA design, drawings, bill of materials, prototyping, manufacturing and testing
-Evidence of having coached and managed diverse teams
-Wide experience of laboratory automation (instruments and their associated consumables)
-Medical Device or In Vitro Diagnostics industry experience
Please note that this role will involve a lot of travel to China wherein you will be meeting with vendors or attending conferences accounting for about 40% of your time.
