The project:

We have an urgent requirement for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work within a large top-10 main contractor that delivers some of the UK's biggest infrastructure projects. This is a 3 year major highways programme involving heavy civil engineering and the introduction of an active traffic management techniques to improve the flow of traffic.

Role Description:

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you take responsibility for the execution of the quantity surveying function on the contract in order to maximise quality of service and profitability. You will report directly to the Project Commercial Manager and you will contribute to the day to day commercial function effectiveness. The role will involve a good degree of man management with a team of Quantity Surveyors and Assistants beneath you. Typical duties will include:

* Management of the team, developing and mentoring them
* Provide commercial input including financial and contractual performance forecasts to the management team. Management of performance measures including KPI's
* Forecasting costs and managing risks
* Preparation of monthly cost / value reports
* Maximising profitability whilst having regard to client/subcontractor relations


* Must have a Quantity Surveyor experience with knowledge of the NEC contract
* Experience in civil engineering projects, highways would be advantageous but not essential
* Ideally qualified; degree in quantity surveying/civil engineering, HNC, HND
* Experience with Design and Build contracts
* Excellent communication skills with a pro-active approach
