Supplier Quality Engineer|
We are a successful electro-mechanical design, development and manufacturer of complex, electro-mechanical products to a global customer base. We are established, so offer a secure environment but continuing to grow as a result of continued new market penetration and product innovation. As a result of this growth, we are looking to appoint a supplier Quality Engineer to undertake a key role in the business.
It will be a highly interesting and varied Supplier Quality Engineering role as we are currently reorganizing and re-aligning the supply chain and as such you will be pivotal in help assisting the Supply Chain & Manufacturing Manager to create and put in place robust vendor management controls and embed a culture of lean six sigma into the supply chain.
With a proven background in Engineering within an electro-mechanical or mechanical manufacturing environment as Supplier Development Engineer you will have responsibility for:
Embedding process and / or product change into the supply chain
Building strong relationships with new and existing suppliers and conducting regular supplier visits
Providing support to the Purchasing team with new supplier sourcing and selection
Working with and developing poorly performing suppliers
Supporting Engineering with complex supplier issues
Support to New product introduction projects liaising between all departments
within cross functional teams, encompassing: acting as representative for the business for New Product Introduction, conducting readiness reviews with suppliers for all new projects
To succeed in this role, you will need to have proven experience within an engineering environment (ideally electro-mechanical or mechanical) coupled with prior supplier management / development expertise. Time served apprentice background or HND/ degree level engineering qualification. A sound working knowledge of lean principals and their application ( such as 8D, PPAP and APQP) highly desirable.
The ability to deliver change on the supply chain and coach and train others and build strong relationships essential.
This is a highly autonomous, customer facing role which necessitates strong engineering and commercial acumen. A full, clean driving licence and the ability to travel regularly (UK mainly) to supplier sites will be an essential requirement of the role.
