Water Connections Technician (Location is covering Warwickshire & Leicestershire, salary up to £35k)|
About the role
As this role is to manage new Severn Trent connections from start to finish, it will be your role to own the customer by acting as the principle day to day and face to face point of contact for the customer from application through to job completion, and ensure that all works comply with STW requirements. You will also liaise and challenge stakeholders e.g. Distribution, Highways Agencies, CCW to ensure Severn Trent Water comply with agreed SLA's where appropriate. From the moment a new connections is agreed you will supervise contractors constructing the requisition by monitoring and retaining standard site inspection sheets, return completed documentation and site surveys to the Design Technicians. Keeping a track of and ensuring that customer costs are accurate is key along with ensuring that all issues are resolved satisfactorily between the Customer and Severn Trent Water. You will also have a responsibility of identifying and promoting areas for improvements or where efficiencies can be made and scheduling yourself time to meet customer and business requirements.
This role is customer facing therefore it is vital that you have experience of and be confident in dealing with people at site level and at management level as you will at times have to deal with complex issues and act decisively and positively when faced with demanding situations to conclude matters. In order to succeed in this role it is expected that you will have sufficient technical knowledge to issue instructions from the design brief to the Design Technicians. Having knowledge of the design and construction of sewers or water mains and broad experience in Sewerage and/or Distribution Law, water regulations, Health & Safety and NRSWA are important to the basis of this role. You will need to have experience of managing contractors to enable you to influence and communicate needs of your team and the tasks at hand to ensure work is delivered within timescales and to the correct specification.
HNC in Civil Engineering or BTEC or equivalent is a desirable qualification.
