Plumbing Technical Support Manager


Provide comprehensive management and technical consultancy support to the franchisees and head office (HO) staff.
Support profitable business development through technical innovation and development.
Provide on-site / telephone advice and guidance on technical matters to franchises and head office staff.
Manage delivery of technical training across the business.

Key Accountabilities

Maintain up-to-date knowledge, competence (practical & theoretical) and awareness of the technical operations, legislative and customer requirements for work carried out in all areas of the company, and by competitors.
Evaluate technical competence at HO and Franchise operations
Manage technical standards and best practice procedures to ensure compliance with H&S legislation
Monitor and advise of current H&S legislation in respect of drainage/plumbing operations
Monitor compliance by audit
Record and report deviations and initiate corrective action
Evaluate the technical requirements and implications of business opportunities
Provide relevant training to the franchisees on the processes for major works.
In conjunction with Franchise Manager carry out regular training needs review and formulate a training plan which supports delivery of the company's business plan
Manage implementation of the plan
Provide routine and ad hoc management information on a timely basis
Investigate technical compliance issues at sites as required

Performance Measures

Up to date matrix of network capabilities and systems
Maintained CPD requirements commensurate with role and industry
Up to date technical analysis of major competitors
Up to date standard operating procedures issued
Review of audits
Number of audits carried out
Monthly summary of deviations and corrective actions issued
Manage Corrective Actions through to completion
Number of new technical business opportunities introduced
Increased revenue within the business
Develop training programmes to address current and anticipated issues
Agreed training plan in place for each franchisee (to engineer level)
Delivery of training within budget and per agreed plans.
Meaningful reports to agreed timescales
Prepare and submit site reports analysing issue and remedial actions

Skills/Competencies/Experience Required

Business management and technical consultancy experience
In-depth knowledge and understanding of plumbing operations as per MR definition
An understanding of basic drainage operations would be advantageous
Relevant training qualifications and IT skills
Good knowledge of relevant H&S legislation (formal qualification desirable)
Excellent presentation, communication and report writing skill
Proven people management skills/experience
Negotiation skills would be a benefit
A flexible approach to working hours and locations is needed in this 24/365 operation
