We are currently recruiting an Avionic Systems Engineer to join AgustaWestland in Yeovil on a contract basis.

• An in-depth knowledge of Aircraft and Mission Avionic Systems.

The Job
The key responsibilities of the role are as follows;
• Preparing and maintaining Avionic System Operational and Capability Requirements.
• Preparing requirements in the form of specifications, Technical SOWs and programmes, for the Electrical and Avionic Systems aspects.
• Ensure the achievement of the Electrical and Avionic Systems tasks are completed to the required schedule.
• Ensure that the tasks meet the necessary airworthiness and safety requirements.
• Work with Suppliers and AW core sub-system providers to define system requirements and system solutions to meet the system requirements.
• Work with Suppliers to maximise the benefits of already certified and qualified Commercial and Military Off-The-Shelf systems.
• Work with other Engineering Specialists, ensure that the systems meet the requirement of the Avionic System Architecture with the required Data Transfer protocols.
• Define and maintain the interface requirements that have an input to other Engineering teams and ensure that the interface requirements defined by other Engineering teams are implemented.
• Ensure that the integration of the systems onto the helicopter are optimised and in accordance with Supplier’s definition.
• Prepare and maintain suitable test requirements to meet the Contractual, certification and regulatory requirements.
• Define the required test facilities to support the Test requirements.
• Prepare test procedures, perform System Integration testing and prepare test reports.
• Prepare documentation to support the flight clearance, qualification and certification of the systems, including compliance to relevant regulations.
• Support the manufacture of the resulting helicopters.
• Support the flight testing activity to ensure that the required evidence is provided to validate the system capability and functionality.
The key knowledge, skills and experience are as follows;
• A degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar.
• Several years’ experience in a relevant Aerospace role.
• An in-depth knowledge of Aircraft and Mission Avionic Systems.
• An in-depth knowledge of the System Engineering life-cycle.
• Experience of preparing System Requirements and System Integration Test Procedures.
• An understanding of Systems Safety in the Aerospace environment.
• A broad experience of helicopter engineering and operation.
• Experience of working at a detailed level with Suppliers and Customers.
• Able to communicate clearly with staff at all levels and with Supplier and Customer representatives.
• Experience of Industry standard interface protocols, including MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC 429, Ethernet/AFDX, RS 422/232.
• Experience of Industry standard Environmental Certification and Qualification standards.
• A good working knowledge of DOORS for Requirements and Test Case management.
• A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, particularly; Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• Experience of working in an Engineering team environment.
