We provide professional services in areas such as aviation, transit, freight rail, highways and bridges, planning, and ports and marine. Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking an experienced and highly talented Gulf Coast Transportation Business Unit Leader (BUL). This is the key position for our transportation business in LA, MS, AR, and OK. This is a career opportunity that encompasses leading a large group with multiple transportation markets including but not limited to surface transportation, inspection services, planning, rail, and aviation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Develops strategic plan to drive strategy, growth, backlog and sales in defined market sectors and end markets across the 4 states
  • Spend 50 - 75% of time in client facing business development activities. Collaborate with Transportation Regional and National Business Line Leader(s) to develop and execute market strategies
  • Manages BD resources and budget to deliver acceptable return on BD investment
  • Builds relationships with key clients, funding sources, industry organizations, teaming partners, and stakeholders to identify opportunities and grow the business
  • Provides leadership to Transportation staff in all 4 states, mainly located in Baton Rouge and New Orleans
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other area business line leaders (e.g. Water, Environment, Construction Services) to maximize cross-selling and to offer integrated services to clients
  • Directs market research teams and anticipates opportunities and trends to determine key business line investment priorities and capture strategy for key pursuits
  • Defines commercial terms and mitigates risks during the pursuit process
  • Develops key industry relationships, promotes technical practices, innovation, sharing and knowledge management
  • Attracts, develops and retains industry leaders and prominent technical specialists to strengthen brand and performance
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are:
    • Gross Revenue Wins, Bookings, and Backlog, Pipeline, Gross and Net Revenue, Gross Margin, EBITA, DSO, Business Development Return on Investment, and Book/Burn

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 15 years of experience that includes 3-5 years of successfully running a profit/loss center with a broad understanding of the transportation business
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • DOT experience
  • Proven ability to provide leadership and strategic direction for a large geographic business line
  • Proven ability to coordinate efforts across regions, business lines and geographies, growth of the business line and development of strategic plans, policies and organizational objectives
  • A thorough understanding of managing a transportation operation including big picture assessments for PS&E, DBB, DB, and other alternative delivery methods
  • Proven aptitude for applying full understanding of company procedures, professional standards, policies, and business practices to achieve financial results and business deadlines
  • Valid driver's license
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a Transportation Operations Manager is a plus
