Baker Hughes Incorporated has an opening for an experienced HSE Manager at our chemical manufacturing facility in Sand Springs, OK. This position sits on the facility's leadership team and is responsible for driving continuous improvement in the areas of worker safety and health as well as environmental protection. This facility is certified to ISO 14001 and subject to Process Safety Management and Risk Management Plan regulations.

  • Oversee all aspects of health, safety and environmental programs to maintain full compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as internal and external business requirements and driving continuous improvement
  • Manage a team of safety and environmental specialists
  • Serve as Management Representative for ISO 14001 and SOCMA ChemStewards certified HSE management systems
  • Influence and mentor facility leadership toward the strengthening of an Interdependent HSE Culture
  • Develop, prepare and present regular updates to facility leadership on key HSE performance indicators
  • Facilitate or lead incident investigations as well as the development and assessment of corrective and preventative actions
  • Analyze incident and near miss trends to identify emerging issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Perform self-assessments and audits to assure conformance with Baker Hughes HSE management system
  • Oversee employee health programs including chemical risk assessment, respiratory protection, ergonomics and hearing protection
  • Serve as HSE technical expert for process hazard analyses, management of change, incident investigation, hot work permitting, emergency planning and response, off-site consequence analysis, and Lean Six Sigma projects
  • Review and assess task risk assessments and safety-critical procedures periodically to ensure effective hazard communication
  • Prepare and maintain regulatory required plans and procedures, including but not limited to; SPCC, SWPPP, NPDES, HAZCOM, Chemical Hygiene, Waste Management and Minimization
  • Prepare annual budgets for HSE-related costs at facility

  • Bachelor's degree in health and safety, environmental science, chemistry, engineering or other relevant field
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment
  • Minimum 5 years in management role
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management and/or field location personnel where required
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, team building and influencing skills
  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations and regulatory process; the ability to research, analyze, interpret and implement HSE regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Experience in HSE management systems and auditing
  • Experience in root cause investigation techniques

  • Designation as a CSP, CIH, QEP
  • Master's degree in health and safety, environmental science, chemistry, engineering or other relevant field
