The Construction manager is responsible for the day to day running of the Construction Department to ensure that operatives and materials are organised in an efficient, cost effective manner on numerous projects / sites varying from small repairs to medium sized construction projects right through to larger sub-contract packages for main contractors. The Construction Manager reports directly to the Contracts Manager and is supported in the role at site level by site managers and foremen.
The successful applicant will be multi skilled and ideally from a traditional construction trades background with a good knowledge of building sequences and methods of construction. They will possess drive and a 'can do' attitude in order to influence operatives and lead by example.
General duties to include but not limited to;
• Allocating labour to the works
• Ordering competitively priced materials for timely delivery to ensure continuity of work on the sites
• Looking ahead, planning ahead and ensuring plans are in place in advance for forthcoming works
• The ability to make decisions on site within the parameters of the role
• Meeting with building control / clerks of the works
• Meeting clients and discussing the work at hand in a professional manner
• Identifying opportunities from existing clients
• Inspecting work for quality
• Checking sub-contractors works for quality and compliance with programmes / schedules
• Checking timesheets for accuracy
• Maintaining a daily diary and record of labour allocation for record purposes
• Being commercially aware in respect of labour time and materials costs
• Preparing weekly labour allocation records for the Contracts Manager
• Being reactive to our clients' needs
• Driving the works forward to completion
• prepare and maintain RAMS for the works

• Pricing small works, variations & additions up to £30k
