Our client, Southern Water are looking for a hydraulic modeller to work on clean and waste projects. The individual must also have an interest in CFD and Surge modelling. The position will be based at Southern Water's engineering offices in Falmer, on the outskirts of Brighton.|
*To undertake hydraulic risk analysis using industry standard modelling software
*To provide support to other directorates in matters relating to sewer hydraulics and system performance
*To participate in an out of normal hours rota and provide advice on sewer networks
*To undertake hydraulic modelling and detailed investigations to determine flood risk and interventions to mitigate and remove flood risk
*To undertake analysis to support the delivery of serviceability targets with respect to flooding and pollution risks
*To provide data to third parties in support of surface water management plans
The role requires a wide range of complex issues and interfaces, and effective communication across all areas of the Business and at all levels both within this organisation and with third party organisations (Councils/Consultants). Initiative, creative thinking, sound judgement, practical and technical knowledge, and informed decision making is expected in order to understand and interpret the needs of the Business effectively.
Change and Innovation
*To use hydraulic models to understand hydraulic risk.
*To analyse data to determine flood risk at property level.
*To determine the impact of new development on network performance.
*To assist in the updating of hydraulic models to ensure that modifications to the model data, both asset data and catchment data is up to date.
*To undertake DG5 flood risk assessments within agreed timescale.
*To provide advice to queries relating to impact of new development.
*To assist with post project appraisals, which may include model upgrades, new model builds and verifications
