Title: Principal Town Planner
Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 p/a (Salary subject to experience)

* Are you experienced in the following fields - Residential, Retail, Regeneration, Town expansion, Commercial, Renewable Energy or Heritage?
The Principal Town Planner will take forward a wide portfolio of general planning consultancy project work which can include residential and regeneration schemes, town expansion, retail, renewable energy, commercial, rural and heritage related developments (dependent on the work portfolio of the office you are working at). You will also be responsible for developing and defending planning policy. Joining a national consultancy with a large network of Planners across the UK the Principal Town Planner will join a medium sized team reporting to one of the Directors of Planning.
The key responsibilities of the role will include evaluating all types of planning applications but in particular large and complex applications. This will include advising and negotiating with applicants, securing improvements where necessary and including negotiation with developers on s106 agreements where required. You will also prepare reports on more complex development proposals, enforcement cases and planning and other applications alongside mentoring junior members of the team.
In addition, experience of Identifying and developing new business is desirable which will include written proposals for new projects/clients and the preparation of tender responses.
You will need to be able to work effectively as part of a team and possess excellent communications skills. You will need to have completed an RTPI accredited course and hold MRTPI or be working towards MRTPI status.
