Purpose of Role The Maintenance Worker / Operator will work directly with the Patrol Foreman/Patrol Supervisor on a day-to-day basis to conduct summer and winter highway maintenance operations/activities in accordance with MTO/Carillion policies and procedures. Principal Accountabilities Carrying out all assigned routine/non-routine summer and winter highway maintenance operations/activities undertaken from the Patrol Centre. Work assignments will include shift work and overtime as a member of the Maintenance Crew. May be required to become a Night Patroller for the winter season performing Maintenance operations performed will include activities such as traffic control, emergency responses, highway surface maintenance, right-of-way maintenance (fence repair, litter pick-up, grass cutting, shrub/tree maintenance, embankment repair, etc.), highway patrolling, shoulder maintenance/grading, plowing, sanding/salting, drainage maintenance, etc. Other duties as assigned. A Maintenance Worker/Operator will be expected to:Meet all physical requirements and perform satisfactorily all highway maintenance and emergency assignments in a manner that promotes cost effective operations, staff co-operation and working in a safe manner and environment at all times. Be helpful, friendly and courteous at all times to members of the public, property owners, members of Public Agencies, Ministry of Transportation staff and officials, etc. Be punctual. Knowledge and Applied SkillsMinimum DZ Licence in good standing Experience in Provincial and/or Municipal Highway Maintenance or related field is preferred Willing to work shifts when required due to scheduled operations AZ License considered an asset. Documented proof of Worker or Supervisor health and safety awareness training, as applicable (as per Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations).
