Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a 2nd Shift Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing team on second shift (noon-9:30 PM). The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to produce the state-of-the-art products that support General Dynamics Mission Systems and our clients. Key Responsibilities

The candidate works under general direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and/or Lead. Working independently in a team based environment, the candidate will determine and develop the approach and solutions to manufacturing engineering projects that enable manufacturing to build and deliver circuit card assemblies to specification with continual improvement of time, quality, and cost metrics. This includes but is not limited to the following:
  • Act as a technical leader for 2 nd shift providing production support for manufacturing operations on a daily basis to remedy issues, enable on-time product deliveries, improve quality, and reduce cost.
  • Ensure product is compliant to all necessary requirements
  • Analyze defect data and implement improvements to drive down defect rate.
  • Implement, qualify and create work instructions for manufacturing processes.
  • Detect and Implement cost savings.
  • Become a recognized leader and manufacturing resource for facilitating continuous improvement projects.
  • Recognize need and purchase manufacturing equipment.
  • Identify tooling needs, design or assist in designing, developing, and purchasing new tooling.
  • Perform back-up duties for other areas as necessary.

  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs.
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidate should have a complete understanding and application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field of manufacturing. Provides technical solutions, disposition of discrepant material and root cause corrective action to a wide range of manufacturing problems with solutions are imaginative, thorough, and practicable.

Requires Bachelor's degree with minimum 0-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate will have effective oral and written communication skills as well as comfortable making presentations to groups of up to 30 people. Candidate will have experience with manufacturing, preferably in the circuit card industry.

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
