Operating internationally, the company has major contracts in place with public transport authorities throughout the UK, including full responsibility for the installation and maintenance of Transport for London's entire portfolio of 31,000 bus stop and bus shelter structures throughout Greater London. |
Due to continued growth and expansion, the company has a requirement for an experienced, organized, highly numerate and financially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Hayes based contract management and delivery team.
Your primary function as the Senior Quantity Surveyor will be the rigorous project cost control of the company's internal, directly employed installation and maintenance workforce and its subcontractors, to ensure maximum output, efficiency and profitability.
Whilst the role will involve detailed cost monitoring and reporting, the candidate will be expected to play a hands on role in influencing and actioning changes in operations, processes and procedures to ensure profitability targets are met on a monthly basis.
Industry knowledge and previous experience of highways construction / street works practices is therefore essential.
Job Description Key Activities.
+ Contract cost monitoring, reporting and control
+ Managing contract costs and profitability - ensuring monthly budgets and profitability targets are met.
+ Manage the Profit and Loss of the Southern Region Installation + & Maintenance depot, with the assistance of the finance department
+ Ensuring contract administration is adhered to.
+ Reviewing tenders and contracts prior to submission and signing
+ Support colleagues in administering the contract.
+ Dealing with contractual and legal matters arising.
+ Providing quotations and estimates in support of contracts or sales departments
+ Negotiating with client, suppliers and sub contractors.
+ Organizing and sub letting component work packages.
+ Dealing with contract delays and supporting accordingly.
+ Identifying and substantiation of variations and claims to an acceptable standard.
+ Ensuring interim valuations are submitted on time in line with the conditions of contract.
+ Ensure sub contractors and supplier valuations are valued on time and payment/payless notices are issued in line with the contract.
+ Agreeing final account.
+ Ensuring the settlement of final accounts
+ Monthly cost and profit reports for internal and external purposes
+ Ensuring and monitoring project invoicing and payments
+ Operate diligently and professionally at all times.
+ Take part in and lead meetings of a commercial nature with clients, suppliers and colleagues.
+ Support other team members achieve their goals.
+ Impart your knowledge and experience to team members and departments.
+ Computer and MS Office literate, XLS, DOC, PDF,
Qualifications & Key Skills
+ HNC/HND/BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying or similar
+ Familiar with NEC, ICE, JCT, FIDIC and bespoke forms of conditions of contract.
+ CSCS Card (Ideally Black Card)
+ Ideally MIOCB Member or working/prepared to work towards MIOCB
+ Ideally RICS Member or working/prepared to work towards RICS
+ 10 Years Main or Sub Contractor Experience
+ Experience in Civils/Highways/Structural Steel/Street Furniture/Tramway projects/Rail
+ A good knowledge of construction methods and materials
+ Experience in Change Control
+ Valid Driving License (Cat B)
