In this job you will...

Provide day-to-day management and support for Internet related telephony, server, router, firewall and backup systems within a results oriented, mission-critical environment
Assist with the delivery of bespoke project work, including design, implementation and commissioning of Internet related infrastructure, systems, procedures, and strategic change controls
Provide direct support to customers and technical leadership by resolving escalated support issues
Improve process development, documentation and knowledge distribution

The Junior Systems Administrator will provide support for all infrastructure and networking systems, dealing primarily with Windows, Hyper V and other Microsoft Applications. This role requires the Systems Administrator to work well within a team of technical experts to ensure system availability including providing support for externally hosted applications. This role involves day to day support as well as some project based work.

Advanced Apprenticeship Infrastructure Technician Level 3 (equivalent to A- level educational level), MTA Networking Fundamentals, MTA Mobility and Devices Fundamentals, MTA Cloud Fundamentals, One Microsoft MOC on demanded course.

Level 4

New skills including:

Networking Principles
Network Systems and Architecture
Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012
Technical Security Fundamentals
Threats and Vulnerabilities

Apprenticeships and Vendor qualifications L4

Higher Apprenticeships Network Engineer Level 4 (equivalent to first year of degree study), Microsoft Certified Professional - Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012 R2, One Microsoft MOC on demanded course

Programme duration

24 - 28 month Higher IT apprenticeship (with opportunity to step off after 12-15 months if you find that the training/role isn't for you)

Desirable Skills:

At least 1 years technical experience managing and supporting systems and network related infrastructure
Sound experience with MS Windows with a good working knowledge of routers, switches and firewalls, VPNs, WANS/LANS and Internet technologies such as load balancing, and monitoring applications
Knowledge of security principles
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Structured and clear thinker: ability to prioritise a demanding workload
The ability to get things done in a fast-paced, multi-tasked work environment

The successful candidate should ideally be qualified to a QA Level 3 programme (Software & Web Development or Systems & Networking) OR Sector relevant A Levels totalling 240 UCAS point (eg 1x A* = 140, 1x A = 120, 1x B = 100 and 1x C = 80) OR A HNC in Computing
