This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to accelerate their IT career as an Apprentice Software Developer Engineer for a Cambridge -based organisation. As part of a Higher Level 4 IT Apprenticeship, you'll gain hands-on experience, industry recognised Microsoft, SCRUM, ITIL qualifications all whilst earning a decent salary.

What you'll be doing as an Apprentice Software Developer Engineer:
Your role is to work with the existing customer support team to service customer bespoke software application development requests. You will also assist with software prototype developments for call centre, mobile apps, UI and front-ends. To support you in your new role, you will receive full training on a range of technologies and systems.

You will also have the following responsibilities

Develop software to meet agreed requirements, code quality and timescales
Ensure that all process and system documentation is performed to a standard agreed with the Head of Licensing and Licensing Development Manager.
Attend and contribute at Project Meetings
Contributing to the production of innovative design against challenging user and performance requirements
To learn the technical languages most commonly used and demonstration your understanding and its practical application.
Contribute towards the Implementation of approved designs
Ensuring all code is fully unit tested and documented
Working with the companies adaptive development methodology to deliver systems that exceed customer expectations and achieve the highest quality
Reporting progress to the Team Lead/Mentor.
What experience and skills do I need?
At least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including Maths, English and either IT or Science.
Proven communication skills supported by experience within a customer focused environment
Solid technical knowledge gained (in particular programming / development / website / software / App) through either school/college, work experience, voluntary employment or self-taught
We are looking for a bright, intelligent person who is very willing to learn and develop.
Whilst a strong interest in technology paired with the ability to grasp technical concepts quickly and easily is important, our emphasis will be more on your personality, drive, and communication skills. You will need to balance many demands so being able to multi-task in a fun but intensive environment where issue prioritisation is a critical skill.
A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to integrate within the team in addition to using your initiative are essential
Full UK Driving licence would be a distinct advantage, but not essential.
**Please note - as this is a level 4 apprenticeship, we can't progress candidates forward if they hold any of the following qualifications: Undergraduate / Masters Degree, HND / HNC or Certificates of Higher Education.**

By working hard and demonstrating your ability, drive and commitment throughout your 24 month apprenticeship scheme, upon completion you will have the opportunity for a permanent position.
