Do you want to accelerate your IT career? We're looking for an aspiring IT-guru to join a growing team in Cambridge as an Apprentice Customer Support Engineer. As part of a Higher Level 3 IT Apprenticeship, you'll gain hands-on experience, industry recognised Microsoft, SCRUM, ITIL qualifications all whilst earning a decent salary.

What you'll be doing as a Customer Support Engineer:
Your role is to work with the existing customer support team to service customer support requests and specific customer project related activities. You will also be provided with full training on a range of technologies and systems

You will also have the following responsibilities

To assist the customer support team in servicing customer requests and specific customer project related activities.
Respond to requests for technical assistance by phone, email, electronically
Diagnose and resolve technical faults with hardware and software related issues
Log all help-desk interactions
Assign problems to correct resource
Morning checks
Remain up-to-date with technology and apprenticeship work
What experience and skills do I need?
At least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including Maths, English and either IT or Science.
Proven communication skills supported by experience within a customer focused environment
Solid technical knowledge gained (in particular programming / development / website / software / App) through either school/college, work experience, voluntary employment or self-taught
We are looking for a bright, intelligent person who is very willing to learn and develop.
Whilst a strong interest in technology paired with the ability to grasp technical concepts quickly and easily is important, our emphasis will be more on your personality, drive, and communication skills. You will need to balance many demands so being able to multi-task in a fun but intensive environment where issue prioritisation is a critical skill.
A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to integrate within the team in addition to using your initiative are essential
Full UK Driving licence would be a distinct advantage, but not essential.
**Please note - as this is a level 4 apprenticeship, we can't progress candidates forward if they hold any of the following qualifications: Undergraduate / Masters Degree, HND / HNC or Certificates of Higher Education.**

During your 12 month IT apprenticeship programme, Firebrand will provide residential training at our distraction-free training centre. Our method of accelerated training allows you to achieve industry-recognised certifications such as CompTIA, ITIL and Microsoft faster, giving you more time to put your new skills in to practice within a working environment. Firebrand will also provide you with a Mentor who will be supporting and assisting you with your development. By the end of your 12 month apprenticeship, in addition to having numerous industry recognized qualifications, a steady career with a supportive employer, you will also be recognised by the British Computer Society (BCS) for entry onto the register of IT Technicians, confirming SFIA level 3 professional competence.

Future career prospects
By working hard and demonstrating your ability, drive and commitment throughout your 12 month apprenticeship scheme, upon completion you will have the opportunity for a permanent position.
