This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to develop your career working as an Apprentice 1st Line Helpdesk Technician for an East Sussex based IT Specialist. As part of a Level 3 IT Apprenticeship, you'll gain hands-on experience, industry recognised Microsoft, CompTIA and ITIL qualifications all whilst earning.|
Who will I work for, and what will I do?
Located in Newhaven, East Sussex, the employer is an IT support company providing proactive IT support for SMB's within the South East of England. Their customers range from 1 - 100 users and they provide support for; Desktops, Servers, VoIP, Printers, WANs, LANs, Firewall, switches. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to grow their team and appoint an Apprentice IT Support Technician.
Your core responsibilities as an Apprentice IT Support Technician will include:
Technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
Support of disaster recovery solutions
IT Support relating to technical issues involving Microsoft's core business applications and operating systems
Monitor the remote monitoring and management system alerts and notifications, and respond accordingly through service tickets
System documentation maintenance and review
Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
Office based support position with some field work (initially accompanied by senior engineer)
What experience do I need?
You will possess a flexible attitude, the ability to perform under pressure and demonstrate a commitment to quality as well as a thorough approach to work. You will have a passion for technology and a basic understanding of networking principals, protocols and associated technologies such as: OSI layer model, IP, TCP/IP, routing and switching, WANs, LANs)
Finally, you will have:
At least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including Maths, English and either IT or Science. What happens after my apprenticeship?
What training will I receive?

During your 12 month IT apprenticeship programme, Firebrand will provide residential training at our distraction-free training centre. Our method of accelerated training allows you to achieve industry-recognised certifications such as CompTIA, ITIL and Microsoft faster, giving you more time to put your new skills in to practice within a working environment. Firebrand will also provide you with a Mentor who will be supporting and assisting you with your development. By the end of your 12 month apprenticeship, in addition to having numerous industry recognised qualifications, a steady career with a supportive employer, you will also be recognised by the British Computer Society (BCS) for entry onto the register of IT Technicians, confirming SFIA level 3 professional competence.
Throughout the course of your apprenticeship, you will receive opportunities for overtime on large installs, team building events held throughout the year (Go-karting etc...). Once you've completed your apprenticeship and demonstrated your commitment, drive and ability, you will be giving the opportunity to apply for a 1st/2nd line Helpdesk Technician within this rapidly expanding organisation
