This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to accelerate their IT career as an Infrastructure Apprentice for a Berkshire -based organisation. As part of a Higher Level 3 IT Apprenticeship, you'll gain hands-on experience; industry recognised Microsoft, CompTIA and ITIL qualifications all whilst earning a decent salary.|

The IT Support Apprentice will sit within the Managed Support team (which is their external facing SQL Server Database Administration team) to provide Windows 10 client and Office 365 support and builds as well as Windows Server 2012 R2 administration internally. You will also learn to install, configure, administer and tune SQL Server on some of the most challenging, mission critical environments, ensuring that uptime and availability is maintained. It can be a demanding environment in which to work but highly rewarding. There's no one superstar; each member of the team is essential to our success. It feels good to be part of a strong and supportive team who share a love of all things SQL and who get just as excited as we do when we solve a problem or find something new.
Maintain a productive, professional and secure working environment
Automation of database support activities
Performance monitoring and tuning
Maintaining and managing global SQL Server estates
Provide technical support to staff and customers
Assist in the completion of regular technical and operational tasks allocated by the Managed Services team
Adhere to internal processes to deliver quality of service
Maintain a strong focus on ensuring the services we deliver meet the needs of our business and customers
Achieve a high service level and meet tight deadlines
Deploy and securely integrate mobile devices
Assist in the day to day management and support of desktops, laptops, backups and mobile phones
Commit and complete work as described by the apprentice programme to achieve qualifications
Comply with the Data Protection Act 1998
Comply with the companies Information Security Management System policy and procedures
What experience and skills do I need?
You'll need at least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including Maths, English and either IT or Science and ideally, although not essential Two A levels at A-C (or equivalent)
Therefore, you'll have the following skills:
Solid technical knowledge gained through school/college, work experience, voluntary employment or self-taught
Able to quickly learn new skills and demonstrate a passion for, and interest in new technologies
Good level of experience of Microsoft Office
Logical and creative thinking skills
Thorough and organised approach
Ability to communicate effectively with a range of individuals and in a variety of situations
Enjoy solving complex problems and applying appropriate solutions
Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
Flexible to cope with changing requirements
Ability to work independently and as part of team following organisational procedures
Ability to communicate effectively using appropriate grammar, spelling and punctuation
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness when dealing with colleagues and customers
Good time keeping
