Workshop and Fleet Manager -€" Move your way up the ranks with a structured approach!

The Company:

My client is one of the UK'€™s leaders in environmental solutions, they provide a comprehensive range of waste, water and energy management services designed to build the circular economy and preserve scarce raw materials.

They are currently on the lookout for a Workshop and Fleet Manager to join their team on a staff basis. This role will be based in the South Yorkshire, UK.

The main purpose of the will be to provide management, leadership and control of my clients’ Internal Workshop. You will support operational performance by ensuring the availability of legally compliant and safe vehicles and plant in line with DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency), HSE (Health and Safety Executive) requirements and company requirements.

You will manage the workshop income and expenditure budget and the R & M, and ensure that the Fleet is managed efficiently, within legal and my clients'€™ guidelines, adding value to the operating business. You will also improve productivity and vehicle availability.

The Role:

** Managing the servicing schedule for up to 120 vehicles, ensuring that the fleet is maintained to the highest standard and ready to ensure that an efficient service can be delivered
** Improving efficiency of the fleet with the view to reduce costs, improving standards and availability.
** Collating reports on fleet performance, e.g. fuel consumption, defect reporting.
** Managing the business relationship and overall performance of all transport, external repairers and suppliers
** Plan and organise work for circa 20 subordinate staff. Managing fitter performance, productivity and being responsible for quality control.
** Improving staff morale and employee relations within the Workshop.
** Ensuring fuel / hazardous chemicals are properly managed and handled and a high housekeeping standard is maintained
** Ensuring fleet availability for the designated location Contracts and the cost effective procurement for parts and maintenance of fleet
** The maintenance of fleet to the legal condition and Operator Licence compliance
** Auditing, supervision and control of subcontractors who work internally on-site or off-site
** Bringing new initiatives to the Contract to bring about efficiencies and savings using new technologies.
** Problem solving, using technical expertise to assist Fitters with troubleshooting, mechanical problems for the Contract along with neighbouring commercial contracts.
** Health & Safety processes e.g. safe working a practice, managing chemicals and fuel, ensuring waste is correctly processed before work on vehicles begins

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications;

** Engineering Qualifications minimum (City & Guilds parts 1-3).
** Vehicle Mechanic - good knowledge of vehicle specifications/Engineering
** Proven background in a fleet management role
** Experienced in managing in-house workshops and external maintenance suppliers
** Strong people management skills within a unionised environment
** Operator license / legislative requirements - CPC holder
** Exceptional negotiation ability
** Proven skills in leading & developing staff to maximize efficiency
** Commercial management of own P&L within fleet / operational environment with proven change management experience
** Professional qualifications e.g. Institute of Motor Industry (IMI), Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE), VVRMA body repair qualification (Thatcham)
