General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Technician to join our Manufacturing team. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to produce and refine the systems, processes and tools that support internal and client operations. This position will assist manufacturing engineers in designing, implementing, and supporting a wide range of manufacturing processes used in the production of military communication products. Processes include transfer molding, electron beam welding, optical fiber splicing, and general hand assembly. Key responsibilities include:
  • Create manufacturing processes and documentation (bills of material, travelers, work instructions, etc.)
  • Collaborate with engineers to execute production line setup and systems
  • Develop methods and procedures to control or modify manufacturing processes
  • Assist with the selection and procurement of fixtures, tools, and machinery
  • Assist with resolutions for purchased material issues
  • Provide manufacturability feedback to design engineers
  • Hands-on production support and training to product assembly personnel

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a mechanical field (engineering, design, etc.) or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Self-starter who needs little supervision to complete tasks
  • Ability to work and contribute within a diverse team environment
  • Good overall computer skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong skills in multitasking, problem solving, and ethical decision making
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret level
