McGinley Support Services operate as an employment business and currently seek to recruit experienced Highways Design Engineers for long term contracts based in Cardiff.

Summery of the role:
Essentially all-round technically strong Senior Engineers or capable/experienced technicians with a highways design background. The individuals would need to have a design background and our preference would be for candidates who are able to use alignment design software such as MX or Civil 3D. They should have a good grasp of highways design standards such that they could understand problems and come up with workable solutions which they could then implement. Able to analyse existing alignment designs, identify departures from standard and then look at alternatives to provide a compliant design.

Job Spec:
We are wishing to recruit an experienced Senior Highway Engineers to join our established highways design team. You will become a member of an expanding design team, taking a leading role in delivering highway design services throughout all stages of major highway project development and in all areas of highways design, working independently and reporting to the Project Manager

*Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will lead a team of engineers and technicians working on a variety of highway projects.
*Assisting Project Managers, you will be responsible for the preparation of feasibility studies, scheme reports, scheme orders and detailed highway design for major and minor projects.
*You will attend progress meetings, public exhibitions and public inquiries.
*The role will also encompass resource, financial and commercial management

Essential Criteria

Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering accredited for corporate membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers, or equivalent.
In your final stages of working towards corporate membership of a relevant professional body, or you may already be a corporate member.

Experience of alignment and junction design using Bentley MX or Autodesk Civil3D or equivalent.

Detailed knowledge and experience in the application of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW).

Experience of highway drainage design.

Desirable Skills

Experience of managing multi-disciplined projects being delivered by teams at various geographical locations both within the UK and overseas.

Experience of Autodesk Vault.

Experience of highway drainage design using MicroDrainage WinDES.

Experience of the delivery of preliminary and detailed highway design, including the submission of Departures from Standards and scheme assessment reporting.

Knowledge of Managed Motorways schemes
