LGV Trailer Maintenance Engineer


Permanent vacancy

£12.50-£13.50 per hour depending on skills and experience

Minimum 40 hours per week (Days)

Overtime up to 10 hours per week on average

TM Resourcing (Technical Division) are currently recruiting on behalf of a successful company in Solihull for a LGV Trailer Maintenance Engineer.

Key skills/experience:

* Apprentice trained/time served Engineer
* Mechanically biased
* Basic auto electrics knowledge (especially of wiring on road trailers)
* LGV/HGV Maintenance Experience


* To ensure LGV trailers and containers are maintained to meet company future and current plans
* To ensure trailers and containers meet legal maintenance requirements and company operational and safety standards
* To minimise trailer and container downtime
* To maintain the appearance of the trailer and container fleet to meet company standards

Key Duties and Responsibilities for all current LGV trailers and containers:

* Annual MOT inspections:

- Prepare for annual MOT test as required

- Take to MOT test as required

* Periodic Inspections:

- Carry out inspections as required to meet statutory obligations

- Rectify defects as required

* Unscheduled Maintenance:

- Rectify defects as required to ensure safe and legal operation at all times

* Fleet Appearance:

- Maintain to company standards

* Recording and Evaluating:

- Keep appropriate records of faults, causes, maintenance and inspections done and report to maintenance foreman

- Evaluate the effectiveness of maintenance done and accordingly suggest improvements to processes and systems. Implement as agreed.

* Workshop and Stores:

- Maintain all areas of work and storage in an appropriately clean, tidy and safe condition at all times

- Ensure all tools and consumable items are stored in the designated place for them so to protect them from deterioration, theft and other losses

- Bring to the attention of the Maintenance Foreman any items to be ordered to maintain stocks and tools at agreed levels
