Polkadotfrog are currently seeking a Network Engineer for a company based near Soham in a village location. Our client has a new role due to growth within the business where you will be required to assist in the installation, configuration and commissioning of customer network installations. These projects will primarily be based on Cisco and Juniper (training will be offered in this area of expertise) network equipment, and consequently a good understanding of those product sets and IP networking is required.|
In addition to delivering new customer solutions, the candidate will also assist in the day to day technical support of existing customer base, handling customer inquiries, troubleshooting and resolving network faults to completion either via remote network access or on-site diagnostics. It may be necessary for the candidate to work outside normal business hours to complete projects or resolve customer issues and, in addition, the candidate will also be required to take part in a 24 x 7 oncall rota for which an additional allowance is available.
Due to the varied nature of the role the ideal candidate should be able to multi-task effectively and expect to be engaged in a series of wide-ranging and exciting projects. The customer facing nature of the role means that it is important that the candidate can present a mature and professional image on behalf of us when dealing with customers.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills:-
Excellent understanding and experience of IP switching, routing and networking protocols and hardware
Understanding or experience in configuring and supporting Cisco and Juniper Routers, Switches and Firewalls
Broad experience of a range of network equipment
Familiarity with the Cisco and Juniper networking product set
Excellent personnel skills and an ability to explain technical issues to non-technical personnel
Clean driving licence with own vehicle available
Flexible attitude and a strong customer focus
Very close to or possession of, at least, Cisco CCNA
The following skills would also be desirable:
Knowledge and experience of VoIP in particular SIP and SCCP
Knowledge and experience of wireless networks and protocols
