An exciting contract opportunity for a Materials Engineer / Graduate Materials Engineer. |
6months+ contract role to support World leading Fusion projects like JET / MAST / ITER!
Our Client is a World leading research facility based right on the Southern Outskirts of Oxfordshire at Culham science Park. They are looking for Materials Engineers / Development Engineers to offer sound well rounded support to design engineers and technologists on materials and materials behaviors. Ideally someone with knowledge and experience on "nuclear radiation damage" / "mechanical testing" / "microscopy techniques" / "project management"
As an ideal candidate you will:
*have knowledge in materials science (PhD or equivalent)
*knowledge of codes and standards (nuclear/ pressure vessel/ ASME)
*knowledge of mechanical testing of metals
*research project management experience
*background with nuclear/fusion (not essential!)
The overall purpose is to provide knowledgeable resource in the areas of manufacturing development and material performance for harsh environments for the breadth of relevant projects and facilities across the UKAEA research site. In doing so, participate in the research, prototyping and verification of manufacturing processes and advanced materials. This is necessary in order to assure components, systems and facilities are delivered with appropriate levels of performance, statutory compliance and tolerable levels of risk.
