Our client is renowned globally as a market leader in their specialist field allied to a number of heavier engineering sectors, and is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly self motivated and capable Quality Manager to complement their highly successful existing management team.

Reporting to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will support the business in developing, controlling and improving Quality standards, providing strategic quality guidance for the business and both maintaining and improving robust procedures in compliance with all applicable Regulatory standards, ensuring the provided products are consistent and achieve internal and external standards as well as monitoring and reporting on the QMS through reporting and data measurement.

You will be responsible for identifying the root cause of quality issues and for implementing containment, corrective and preventative actions to ensure customer satisfaction. You will also be required to establish and report on appropriate Quality business measures whilst developing and defining Quality programmes, including Kaizen implementation and 5S projects and leading and developing the Quality department as a whole. You must have the calibre and credibility to represent the Company both internally and externally, with customers, suppliers, and regulatory organisations when required.

You will devise, establish and maintain company quality procedures, standards and specifications in order to ensure QMS achievement of, and compliance with, necessary national and international external and third party registrations and accreditations, and will direct or coordinate quality assurance programs and formulate quality control policies and procedures that drive work teams towards the achievement of company efficiency and profitability targets, by process improvement and elimination of waste. Skilled in investigating, measuring and reporting customer satisfaction levels against their internal goals and our company set targets, you will develop and train the QC team to a level of cross functional self-sustenance, and engage with the local management team to ensure Quality receives appropriate levels of support and focus, providing education and training as required.

You will represent the Company both internally and externally, with customers, suppliers, and regulatory organisations and provide Technical Quality assistance to all Directors and Managers, guiding the quality function and Quality and cost reduction programmes including Kaizen implementation and 5S projects. In conjunction with the Purchase Manager, you will carry out new supplier audits to determine suitability for addition to company approved supplier list, as per ISO 9001 requirement, and conduct annual SQA audits on top 10 poor performing suppliers to ensure capability of supply and retention on approved supplier list.

With previous experience of producing Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) for field service site working and of delivering Lean 6 Sigma training where required, you will develop employee group training plans related to specific quality practices and system requirements and full CoPQ monthly reporting metrics and attend and report on Quarterly Quality Review meetings with top 10 customers on an ongoing basis. To be considered for this varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that you will be educated to at least HND/degree level in an engineering related discipline, and will demonstrate at least 5 years' experience in a Quality Management environment within an Engineering or Manufacturing field - with Automotive sector (ISO9001; TS16949; SPC; APQP; PPAP; MSA etc) experience in particular proving advantageous.

Additionally you will demonstrate a full understanding of ISO (Apply online only) Quality Management System along with an appreciation of Supply Chain management and an in depth knowledge of APQP / PPAP procedures. You will be experienced in Lean 6 Sigma improvement philosophy. (Black Belt would be advantageous) and flexible to travel occasionally within UK and Europe, to customer locations as and when required, so a full UK driving licence is essential for the position. Also critical are excellent communication and interpersonal skills and comprehensive proficiency in the Microsoft Office 2007 / 2010 suite.
