Fire Engineering Consultant

Our client based near Watford, is a world leading independent third party approvals body offering certification of fire, security and sustainability products and services to an international market.
They are offering an exciting opportunity for a fire safety engineering consultant to join their team of experts undertaking fire engineering consultancy services for a wide range of clients in both the commercial and public sectors. The primary role will involve the provision of fire safety engineering consultancy to our clients for both new and existing buildings. This role will also include providing support to our research, fire risk assessment and fire investigations teams as needed.
The successful candidate should have good knowledge of fire dynamics and fire engineering principles. Knowledge of the British Building Regulations, Codes and Standards with demonstrable expertise in general fire safety matters would be of significant benefit.
This role will require the successful candidate to be client facing, there is an expectation that the applicant will be comfortable and competent at maintaining client contact, meeting with clients and undertaking presentations when required.
The successful candidate will require:
Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Fire Engineering, or similar engineering discipline.
An understanding of fire dynamics and basic fire engineering principles.
Strong problem solving skills.
Good skills with Office Word and Excel (or similar).
Good spoken and written English.

The following skills are not required, but considered beneficial to the application:
Working knowledge of the British Building Regulations and standard guidance documents (ADB, BS9999 etc.)
Working knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.
Candidates with a commercial fire engineering background would have a distinct advantage.
Experience of provision of technical report writing.
Knowledge of Computational Methods or Computational Fluid Dynamics. FDS and Pyrosim skills preferred.
Presentational skills.
