Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) approved the issuance of a $1.2 billion General Obligation Bond for renovating facilities, updating technology, building school replacements, expanding student capacity and enhancing facility safety. Our staff will be tasked to maintain a rollout schedule that will see every school in Miami-Dade County improved, helping ensure a safe and beneficial future learning environment for students. Scope of Services may include land acquisition assistance; assistance with the selection of design and construction professionals; planning, coordination, administration and management oversight of projects and other related services.

We are seeking an Indoor Air Quality Inspector to work with M-DCPS in Miami, FL. Working under close supervision, the Indoor Air Quality Inspector will perform a full range of inspections of district facilities that are existing and/or potential sources of air pollution.

Responsibilities include:
      • Conducting annual compliance inspections of facilities designated as sources of air pollution
      • Making determinations of compliance with applicable regulations
      • Conducting on-site inspections of school sites to ensure adherence to air quality standards and regulations; this may require source tests of site emissions
      • Using monitoring equipment and instrumentation to measure and evaluate various emissions and particles as well as maintaining these devices to ensure integrity and performance consistency
      • Responding to and investigating complaints regarding indoor air quality issues; determining nature and extent of problem (may involve taking representative samples of various materials for laboratory analysis); preparing documentation of findings and consulting with school personnel regarding follow-up
      • Performing tests and documenting findings (including taking photographs at inspection sites)
      • Interacting directly with client staff, government agencies, and the general public
      • Providing information to stakeholders (including clients) regarding plant source emissions and compliance status

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's degree with a major in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely-related field
      • A minimum of 5 years of experience in providing professional, technical support in air quality inspection and related tasks
      • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
      • Ability to properly calibrate and operate air quality monitoring equipment
Required Knowledge:
      • Basic knowledge of building plans and specifications, building materials, and construction
      • Knowledge of theories, principles, practices, and techniques of operating, maintaining, and calibrating air quality and related testing equipment and instrumentation
      • Knowledge of applicable District, State, and Federal laws, rules, and regulations
      • Knowledge of techniques of modifying production processes and equipment that can reduce emissions into the air
      • Knowledge of recordkeeping and reporting principles and practices
The ability to work in the United States immediately is required.
