Job Summary
The Cost Engineer is responsible for performing quality assurance on cost control procedures, monitors costs and collects cost data to ensure conformity with budget directives. Works toward alignment of Field and Program Office cost management objectives. Distributing cost reports, capturing detailed potential change items in the Project Management Control System (PMCS), entering new cost or budget estimates, reviewing change logs for needed budgetary information, and preparing cash flow forecasting templates.

The Cost Engineer primary roles and responsibilities will be as follows:
  • Utilize proprietary Project Management Control System as well as other tools for cost management
  • Maintain positive working relationships with peers as well as Project and Program leadership
  • Manage capital budgets
  • Manage contractual commitments
  • Review and validate Project Expenditures
  • Manage potential change orders and associated change management
  • Oversee WBS selections
  • Manage monthly cash flow projections; including issuing project specific templates
  • Perform monthly cash flow variance analysis
  • Prepare, review, and publish monthly cost reports
  • Facilitate weekly / monthly financial reporting and review meetings
  • Perform cost report variance analysis
  • Validates budgets, PO commitments, expenditures and forecast to source documents
  • Ensures accurate and timely submission of financial documents
  • Support adhoc reporting as required
  • Monitor invoices and non-PO issues
  • Support Cost System Implementation Changes/Upgrades

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, business or related field, or demonstrated equivalent and related experience
  • 5 years of experience in engineering, procurement and construction projects or operating in industrial facilities in a cost control position
  • Progressed experience with applications such as MS Office (specifically Excel), Sharepoint, as well as working knowledge of PRISM, Primavera, MS Project and Earned Value Management Systems
  • Exposure to performance measurement and cost/schedule integration concepts and principles
  • Must be proactive, self-starting and require minimal supervision
  • Proven analytical, qualitative and presentation skills are a minimum
  • Communicates Clearly:

  • Expresses ideas, exercises sound judgment and effectively listens
  • Through attention to detail, develops and maintains an orderly and efficient approach to assignments
