Job Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for all site construction aspects, within his assigned area, including safety, progress and cost management, quality and environmental conformance, employee relations, and compliance with statutory regulations and commitments.

The Construction Manager will confirm or establish the Construction Execution Plan, will participate in constructability, safety, operational and maintenance reviews of the designs during design development, assist with preparing contract documents and contractor selection, establish temporary facilities on site, coordinate and manage all site construction activities, and manage demobilisation when the facility has been handed over.

Work with Project Managers, Construction Supervisors, Health and Safety Manager/Officers, Environmental Manager/Officers and Field Engineers, Contract Administrators.

Key Result Area:

  • Co-ordinate tasks and allocate resources
  • Provide support, training & guidance to direct reports
  • Review the Construction Execution Strategy.
  • Implement the Construction Execution Plan.
  • Implement the Construction Procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews (where applicable).
  • Input into contractor selection
  • Initiate and ensure timely appointment of site personnel in accordance with manning plans
  • Identify where additional expertise are required and initiate sourcing thereof
  • Manage the project participants involved with site activities
  • Ensure construction compliance with statutory requirements and conditions
  • Coordinate construction activities to achieve the scheduled milestones and cost parameters
  • Manage the construction contractors performing the site works
  • Supervise contract administration including resolution of claims and approval of progress payments
  • Manage scope change, e.g. Site Instructions.
  • Monitor the technical coordination between the site and project offices, particularly the engineering and procurement functions
  • Review the cost forecasts for construction activities
  • Monitor the quality of the construction deliverables
  • Ensure regular reviews of the Project Risk Profile are undertaken during the construction phase
  • Prepare the construction reports required by the Project Execution Plan
  • Ensure compliance with the statutory requirements (as applicable to construction)
  • Undertake crisis management when required and resolve conflicts
  • Ensure progressive collation of quality verification records required for Hand-Over
  • Oversee close-out and remediation activities of the construction site.
  • Oversee compliance with specified quality standards in all tasks and the collation of the verification records
  • Arrange audits of construction activities and address any resultant issues

Minimum Requirements
10 years experience
Previous NEC experience essential
EPCM experience

Preferred Qualifications
Relevant tertiary qualification
