Job Summary
Location: Los Angeles
Supporting the Regional EVP, the Director of Business Development will possess a well-rounded background in key vertical construction market segments. The primary focus of this position is day-to-day business development, marketing and sales efforts for AECOM's Building Construction business line (which includes Tishman and Hunt Construction). Working in conjunction with Regional Executives, corporate marketing and business executives, and other Hunt, Tishman and AECOM business line leaders, develop and implement strategic objectives and tactics for the business development and marketing efforts to both current and potential clients.
  • Leads regional initiatives for the development of specific objectives and strategies to create a comprehensive and viable business development program, including integrated delivery opportunities (e.g., Design-Build, Public Private Partnerships).
  • Provides broad and comprehensive knowledge of all matters related to the business of the organization with an eye towards identifying new sales perspectives and driving business growth.
  • Identifies and prioritizes potential market segments and customers that are aligned with economic trends, market conditions and Company's success factors.
  • Facilitates business growth by working together with clients as well as business partners (such as Hunt and Tishman collaboration leadership, AECOM Client Account Managers, joint venture partners, alliance partners).
  • Build and maintain high-level contacts with current and prospective customer and other business and project partners.
  • Prepare and implement business development action plans for targeted markets and customers. Keep all apprised of actions planned by involved members of the corporate team.
  • In conjunction with corporate marketing and communications, develop major proposals, presentation and brochure materials.
  • Provides expert advice and direction and drive prospects through to contract award, including identifying new customers and markets, developing approaches to the market, identifying prospects, and proposal preparation. May assist with final contract negotiations with client.
  • Coordinate targeted research on a continuous basis.
  • Positively influence and persuade executives, managers and potential clients with final goal of securing contracts and building trusting relationships.

Minimum Requirements
  • BS Construction Management, Engineering, or related degree.
  • 5 to 10 years of construction experience, with a majority spent in a business development capacity
  • Expert knowledge of the operations of a construction enterprise, key competitors and industry in the Southern California area
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the Southern California region.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience for General Contractor/Construction Management firm with mid-to-large scale projects of a complex nature.
  • Proven success in business development in commercial, residential (Condo), mixed use, design-build industry.
